Hydresia is a natural, plant-derived ingredient composed of oleosomes extracted from safflower seeds (*Carthamus tinctorius*). Developed by Botaneco, it functions as a unique emulsifier and delivery system for topical applications. Oleosomes are naturally occurring lipid storage organelles found in oilseeds, consisting of a triglyceride core surrounded by a phospholipid monolayer and a protein shell (oleosins). In dermatological and cosmetic formulations, Hydresia provides a sustained-release mechanism; as the oleosome structure collapses upon application to the skin, it gradually releases its internal oils and any encapsulated active ingredients. This process enhances skin barrier function, provides long-lasting hydration, and improves the efficacy of co-formulated active agents. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of dry skin (xerosis) and as a vehicle in cosmeceutical products.
