Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Efcortesol is a brand of hydrocortisone sodium phosphate, a water-soluble glucocorticoid corticosteroid. It is formulated as a ready-to-use injectable solution for conditions requiring rapid corticosteroid action, such as acute adrenal insufficiency and severe asthma. As a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, it exerts potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. In clinical research, it has been evaluated as an adjunct to local anesthetics (like bupivacaine) for treating chronic degenerative tendinopathies, including Achilles and patellar tendinopathy, particularly in the BE FIT Study sponsored by the UK Directorate of Defence Rehabilitation.
