Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The hydrogel vehicle studied by Derm Research, PLLC is a topical formulation investigated for its ability to maintain and repair the epidermal barrier in patients with atopic dermatitis. Unlike traditional vehicles that serve primarily as carriers for active pharmaceutical ingredients, this specific hydrogel was evaluated as a standalone moisturizing and barrier-enhancing agent. In a randomized, investigator-blind, split-body pilot study (NCT01065714), the vehicle was compared against Eucerin Lotion to assess its impact on transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and skin hydration via corneometry. The formulation aims to address the skin barrier dysfunction characteristic of atopic dermatitis without the use of traditional active drugs.
