Overview
Peroxid vodíka 3% (Hydrogen peroxide 3%) is a widely used topical antiseptic and disinfectant solution developed and manufactured by VULM. It is formulated as a 3% dermal and oral solution intended for cleaning minor wounds, ulcers, and cuts, as well as for oral hygiene, such as rinsing the mouth to treat stomatitis or gingivitis, or as a gargle. Upon contact with tissues containing the enzyme catalase, hydrogen peroxide rapidly decomposes into water and oxygen, releasing nascent oxygen that exerts a mechanical cleansing effect through effervescence and provides mild antimicrobial and hemostatic activity.
