Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hydromol Ointment is a 3-in-1 all-purpose emollient, bath additive, and soap substitute. It is formulated to moisturize and soften dry skin by creating a protective barrier that seals in moisture and prevents water loss. The ointment is fragrance-free, color-free, and preservative-free, making it suitable for sensitive skin. Its primary mechanism of action involves biophysical occlusion, where its components, mainly paraffins, form a dense, continuous, and hydrophobic film on the skin's surface. This occlusive barrier reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL), thereby restoring the skin's natural barrier function and increasing the water content in the stratum corneum. It is indicated for the management of various dry skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, and dermatitis. Hydromol Ointment is manufactured by Alliance Pharmaceuticals.
