Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HydroVax-005 CHIKV is an investigational inactivated vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of chikungunya virus infection. The vaccine uses a proprietary hydrogen peroxide-based inactivation method (HydroVax technology) designed to preserve neutralizing epitopes and optimize immunogenicity, distinguishing it from other inactivation approaches that may damage key viral structures. Preclinical studies have shown that this approach induces strong neutralizing antibody responses and provides protection against multiple chikungunya virus clades as well as related alphaviruses. The vaccine is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults. It is administered intramuscularly, typically as a two-dose series[1][2][3][4][5][7].
