Overview

This investigational multivitamin complex combination is being evaluated by the Hospital Universitario Dr. Jose E. Gonzalez (Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León) for the treatment of pernicious anemia and megaloblastic anemia. The formulation consists of three active B-vitamins: hydroxocobalamin (vitamin B12) at a megadose of 10,000 mcg, thiamin (vitamin B1) at 100 mg, and pyridoxine (vitamin B6) at 50 mg, administered as a single intramuscular injection. Hydroxocobalamin serves as an essential cofactor for enzymes such as methionine synthase and methylmalonyl-CoA mutase, which are critical for DNA synthesis and erythropoiesis. Thiamin and pyridoxine support cellular metabolism and neurological health. The therapy is currently in a Phase 4 clinical trial (NCT03372447) to demonstrate the effectiveness of this single megadose approach in rapidly correcting vitamin deficiencies and improving hematological parameters in patients with megaloblastic anemia.
