Hydroxychloroquine is hypothesized to provide endothelial protection through its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antithrombotic properties, potentially addressing the vascular endothelial dysfunction and immunological impairment that characterize preeclampsia. The clinical trial (NCT04755322) investigates whether the addition of hydroxychloroquine to aspirin and folic acid can improve placental function and perinatal outcomes compared to standard therapy alone.
