This is an oral **combination drug** consisting of hydroxychloroquine, an antimalarial immunomodulator, and chlorphenesin carbamate, a centrally-acting skeletal muscle relaxant. Hydroxychloroquine exerts its pharmacological effects by interfering with lysosomal activity and autophagy in antigen-presenting cells, suppressing immune system activity, and elevating intravesicular pH, which blocks parasite replication and modulates inflammatory processes, notably in autoimmune diseases. Chlorphenesin carbamate is used to relieve painful musculoskeletal conditions by acting on the central nervous system to reduce muscle spasm; its exact mechanism is not fully elucidated but is believed to be related to CNS depression and inhibition of nerve impulse transmission in the spinal cord. This particular combination is under clinical investigation (as code names OC-201 and OC-202) for efficacy in treating metastatic pancreatic cancer based on AI-assisted drug repurposing efforts, functioning through multi-modal effects on tumor progression, metastasis, and cancer cell survival.
