Hydroxychloroquine + levothyroxine is a combination of two small molecule drugs, each with distinct mechanisms and indications. Hydroxychloroquine is an antimalarial and immunomodulatory agent primarily used for the treatment and prevention of malaria, as well as autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. It works by interfering with lysosomal activity and antigen presentation in immune cells, thereby reducing inflammation. Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4), used to treat hypothyroidism by supplementing deficient endogenous thyroid hormone levels, thus restoring normal metabolic activity regulated by thyroid hormones. There are no known direct pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic interactions between these two agents; however, both should be administered under medical supervision due to their individual side effect profiles[1][2][5].
