Hydroxypachymic acid is a lanostane-type triterpenoid isolated from the sclerotium of *Poria cocos* (also known as *Wolfiporia extensa*), a fungus widely utilized in traditional Chinese medicine. Developed by Shanghai Ruixing Genetic Technology, it is being investigated as a therapeutic agent for liver fibrosis, particularly in patients with chronic hepatitis B. The compound is thought to exert anti-fibrotic effects by inhibiting the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and modulating pro-fibrotic signaling pathways, including the TGF-β/Smad and NF-κB pathways. In clinical development, hydroxypachymic acid has been evaluated in an oral capsule formulation, often in combination with standard antiviral therapies like entecavir, to improve histological outcomes and reduce liver stiffness in patients with chronic liver disease.
