Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hydroxytyrosol acetate is a **natural polyphenolic compound** present in the fruit and leaf of the olive tree (Olea europaea), and is a minor constituent of olive oil. It possesses **antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet, and neuroprotective** properties. Mechanistically, hydroxytyrosol acetate has been shown to inhibit **vascular endothelial cell pyroptosis** by downregulating **histone deacetylase 11 (HDAC11)**, reducing inflammation and atherosclerotic lesion formation in preclinical models. It has also demonstrated activity in improving cognitive dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease models and shows potential for cardiovascular health through reduction of oxidative stress and inflammation[3][12][13].
