Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HYNIC-UBI (6-hydrazinonicotinamide-ubiquicidin) is a peptide-based radiopharmaceutical active ingredient developed by Aprin Sama Pharmed. It consists of the cationic human antimicrobial peptide fragment ubiquicidin (specifically UBI 29-41) conjugated to the bifunctional chelator HYNIC (6-hydrazinonicotinamide). HYNIC-UBI is designed to be radiolabeled with technetium-99m (99mTc) to form [99mTc-HYNIC]-UBI, a diagnostic imaging agent used in single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). The radiotracer targets the anionic cell membranes of viable bacteria, allowing for the non-invasive detection and localization of bacterial infections, such as osteomyelitis and soft tissue infections, and effectively distinguishing them from sterile inflammation.
