HYNR-CS is an autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by Hyun Young Kim at Hanyang University for the treatment of anoxic or hypoxic brain injury. The treatment involves the isolation and expansion of a patient's own bone marrow MSCs, which are then administered via intrathecal injection. The therapeutic rationale is based on the cells' ability to exert neuroprotective effects through the paracrine secretion of various neurotrophic factors and immunomodulatory cytokines. These factors are intended to reduce neuroinflammation, prevent further neuronal apoptosis, and potentially stimulate endogenous neural repair mechanisms in brain tissue damaged by a lack of oxygen.
