HYNRCS-Allo is an allogeneic cell therapy candidate consisting of HLA-haploidentical bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Developed by CorestemChemon in collaboration with Hanyang University, it is specifically investigated for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The therapy involves the intrathecal administration of donor-derived stem cells that have been matched to the recipient's human leukocyte antigen (HLA) type at a haploidentical level. The mechanism of action is primarily based on the secretion of neurotrophic factors and immunomodulatory cytokines, which aim to create a neuroprotective environment, reduce neuroinflammation, and slow the degeneration of motor neurons in the spinal cord and brain. Unlike autologous stem cell therapies, HYNRCS-Allo offers the potential for a more standardized, off-the-shelf treatment approach for ALS patients.
