Hypoglycosylated follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is a next-generation recombinant biologic therapeutic being developed for fertility treatment and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Developed by Granata Bio in partnership with Georgetown Equity Partners through their joint venture GTE Bio, the drug is based on intellectual property from the University of Colorado Anschutz. It consists of a recombinant form of FSH with reduced glycosylation, designed to mimic the FSH glycoforms that naturally predominate in women of reproductive age. This specific glycosylation profile is intended to enhance intracellular signaling through the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) on ovarian granulosa cells, potentially providing stronger downstream activity and improved cell function compared to existing fully glycosylated recombinant FSH products.
