Overview

Hypoxia-Mesenchymal Stem Cell Secretome is a cell-free biologic therapy developed by the Stem Cell and Cancer Research (SCCR) laboratory at Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (Unissula) in Indonesia. It consists of the complete set of secretory products, including exosomes, cytokines, and growth factors, harvested from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) cultured under hypoxic conditions. This hypoxic conditioning is designed to enhance the production of anti-inflammatory and regenerative factors such as IL-10, TGF-β, PDGF, and VEGF. The therapy is primarily investigated for the treatment of severe COVID-19, where it aims to mitigate the systemic cytokine storm, reduce inflammatory markers like IL-6 and C-reactive protein, and promote the repair of lung tissue injury through its immunomodulatory and pro-angiogenic properties.
