Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hypoxisome is an exosome-based therapeutic candidate developed by Exostemtech, specifically targeting lung fibrosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The therapy consists of exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that have been cultured under hypoxic conditions, a process that enhances the secretion of anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory factors. Hypoxisome works by modulating the lung microenvironment and inhibiting the TGF-beta signaling pathway, which is a key driver of fibroblast-to-myofibroblast differentiation and excessive extracellular matrix production. By delivering a specialized cargo of microRNAs and proteins, it aims to halt or reverse the progression of fibrotic lung disease. It is currently in preclinical development.
