Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HYR0201 is a small molecule non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) developed by Tiandi Hengyi Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acute upper respiratory tract infections (AURTI). It is the sodium salt of the active metabolite of loxoprofen, known as loxoprofen alcohol. Unlike loxoprofen, which is a prodrug that must be converted in the liver to its active form, HYR0201 is the active moiety itself. This direct administration of the active metabolite is intended to provide a more rapid onset of action and more consistent therapeutic effects by bypassing the metabolic activation step. HYR0201 acts by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, thereby reducing the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. It is primarily being developed for the symptomatic relief of fever, pain, and inflammation associated with AURTI and has reached Phase 3 clinical trials in China.
