Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HYstem-001 is an umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell (UC-MSC) therapy developed by Tianjin Huayu Pharmaceutical for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Mesenchymal stem cells are known for their potent immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic properties. When administered, these cells are thought to migrate to damaged lung tissue where they secrete various paracrine factors, such as growth factors and cytokines, that modulate the immune response, inhibit the activation of fibroblasts into myofibroblasts, and promote alveolar repair. The therapy aims to slow the progression of lung scarring and preserve respiratory function in patients with IPF, a chronic and progressive interstitial lung disease.
