Overview

HZ012 is a long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist developed by Zhejiang Heze Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of obesity and overweight. As a GLP-1 receptor agonist, it mimics the physiological effects of the endogenous GLP-1 hormone, which is secreted by the intestines in response to food. The drug works by activating GLP-1 receptors, which leads to glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppression of glucagon release, and a significant delay in gastric emptying. Furthermore, it acts on the central nervous system to increase satiety and reduce appetite, facilitating weight loss. HZ012 is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in China to assess its safety and efficacy in individuals who are overweight or obese.
