Overview

HZBio1 is a pegylated recombinant uricase developed for the treatment of gout. Uricase is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of uric acid to allantoin, which is more soluble and easily excreted by the kidneys. Pegylation (attachment of polyethylene glycol chains) improves the pharmacokinetic properties and reduces immunogenicity compared to non-pegylated forms. HZBio1 is being evaluated in clinical trials for its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and immunogenicity in both healthy subjects and patients with gout[3][4]. The drug aims to lower serum uric acid levels in patients with hyperuricemia or gout who are unable to adequately control their condition with standard therapies.
