Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HZBio2 is a biosimilar candidate of vedolizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody. It is developed by Hangzhou Yuanda Biopharmaceutical for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Like the reference product, HZBio2 binds to the human α4β7 integrin, a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of a subset of gastrointestinal-homing T lymphocytes. By blocking the interaction of α4β7 with mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1), it inhibits the migration of these inflammatory cells into the gastrointestinal mucosa, thereby reducing inflammation.
