Overview

I-131-labelled anti-neurophysin antibody is an investigational radiopharmaceutical consisting of rabbit polyclonal antibodies conjugated with the radioisotope Iodine-131. It specifically targets vasopressin-associated human neurophysin (VP-HNP), a carrier protein that is ectopically produced and expressed on the surface of approximately 65-70% of small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) cells. The agent was designed to bind to these tumor-associated antigens, thereby delivering targeted radiation for tumor localization and imaging via scintigraphy. Preliminary clinical studies conducted in the late 1980s demonstrated successful tumor imaging in patients with neurophysin-producing SCLC. However, the development of this specific agent did not progress beyond early clinical trials to regulatory approval.
