Drug intelligence / Profile preview
I-BOP is a highly potent, selective agonist of the thromboxane A2 (TXA2) / prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) receptor (TP receptor). It is widely used as a pharmacological research tool to study thromboxane receptor-mediated pathways, including platelet aggregation, vascular smooth muscle contraction, and more recently, its role in skeletal muscle glucose uptake and whole-body glucose homeostasis. In preclinical studies, I-BOP has been shown to stimulate glucose uptake, oxidation, and glycogen synthesis in skeletal muscle cells, and to improve glucose tolerance in mouse models. It is primarily sold as a research-use-only reagent.
