Overview

I-Caerin 1.9 is an investigational modified peptide developed by Zhongao Biomedical Technology, derived from the skin secretions of the Australian tree frog (*Litoria*). It is a variant of the Caerin 1.9 peptide specifically modified for use in internal radiation therapy, often functioning as a radioimmunoconjugate (such as I-c(RGD)). The peptide exerts its anti-tumor effects by modulating the tumor microenvironment, specifically promoting M1 macrophage polarization and activating the IFN-α/STAT1 signaling pathway. Furthermore, it induces immunogenic cell death through pyroptosis, a process mediated by the activation of the caspase-3/GSDME pathway. I-Caerin 1.9 is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and esophageal cancer.
