I-IR799-CXB is an experimental **heptamethine cyanine-based theranostic small-molecule conjugate** consisting of the near-infrared photosensitizer I-IR799 covalently linked to celecoxib. It was designed to preferentially target cyclooxygenase-2-expressing cancer cells and, following near-infrared light activation, mediate photodynamic therapy through phototoxic reactive-oxygen-species generation. The probe was reported in preclinical in-vitro studies of hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells compared with normal AML12 liver cells.
