Overview

I2L is an altered peptide ligand derived from the GP2 epitope of the HER-2/neu protein. It is utilized in an immunotherapy approach where it pulses ex vivo expanded dendritic cells (DCs). These pulsed DCs are then administered to patients to stimulate a specific immune response, particularly the generation of IFN-gamma-producing CD8+ T cells, targeting cancer cells that express the HER-2/neu protein. This therapeutic strategy has been investigated in a phase I/II clinical trial for metastatic breast cancer.
