Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IAL-F is a cohesive ophthalmic viscoelastic device (OVD) containing 1.8% sodium hyaluronate derived from animal sources and is used primarily in cataract surgery (phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation) to maintain anterior chamber space, protect corneal endothelium, and facilitate surgical maneuvers. It is metabolized in the human body and has demonstrated efficacy in protecting against corneal endothelial cell loss, with safety comparable to other OVDs. The product is manufactured by Fidia Farmaceutici for use in ophthalmological procedures[3].
