Ialuril

Ialuril is a therapeutic product used in urology, primarily available as an intravesical instillation (Ialuril Prefill) and an oral supplement (Ialuril Soft Gels). The intravesical formulation consists of a combination of sodium hyaluronate (1.6%), sodium chondroitin sulfate (2.0%), and calcium chloride (0.87%). Its primary mechanism of action involves the restoration of the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer of the bladder urothelium. Damage to this protective layer is a key factor in several chronic inflammatory bladder conditions, as it allows bacteria, toxins, and ions to penetrate the bladder wall, causing inflammation, pain, and infection. Ialuril acts as a physico-mechanical barrier, preventing the adhesion of pathogens such as *Escherichia coli* and reducing irritation in conditions like recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTI), bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC), and radiation- or chemotherapy-induced cystitis. Developed by IBSA Farmaceutici, the instillation is often regulated as a Class III medical device. The oral formulation, Ialuril Soft Gels, complements the therapy with curcumin and quercetin to provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.
