Overview

Iapalotelimab (SG001) is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, developed by Lunan Pharmaceutical Group and its subsidiary Shandong New Time Pharmaceutical. As an immune checkpoint inhibitor, iapalotelimab blocks the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby restoring T-cell mediated anti-tumor immune responses. The drug is currently being evaluated in several clinical trials in China, most notably in a Phase II study (ChiCTR2600130204) led by Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, which investigates its efficacy in combination with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and platinum-based chemotherapy as a first-line treatment for limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC). It is also under investigation for other malignancies, including cervical, esophageal, and gastric cancers.
