IASO-001 is a pan-Salmonella vaccine candidate being developed by Iaso Therapeutics, a spinout from Michigan State University. The vaccine is designed to target four major antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) Salmonella serovars: *Salmonella Typhi*, *Salmonella Paratyphi*, *Salmonella Enteritidis*, and *Salmonella Typhimurium*. It utilizes Iaso's proprietary mutant bacteriophage Qβ (mQβ) virus-like particle (VLP) platform technology, which employs synthetic chemistry to construct precise copies of bacterial surface glycans (antigens) and conjugate them to the mQβ carrier. This approach is intended to elicit robust immune responses against typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, and non-typhoidal salmonellosis. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that the mQβ platform provides superior immunogenicity compared to traditional benchmark carriers such as CRM-197 and tetanus toxoid.
