IAXO-101 is a synthetic small-molecule glycolipid and benzylammonium lipid compound developed by Innaxon. It acts as a Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and CD14 antagonist, functioning as a Lipid A analogue. By interfering with TLR4/CD14 signaling pathways, IAXO-101 is designed to inhibit sterile inflammation and protect against tissue damage mediated by these receptors. Preclinical research has explored its potential in a wide range of inflammatory and ischemic conditions, including neuropathic pain, atherosclerosis, chronic hepatitis, abdominal aortic aneurysm, acute organ failure, cardiac infarct, and stroke. It aims to reduce neuroinflammation and systemic inflammatory responses while potentially preserving the pathogen-defense functions of TLR4.
