Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IB Complex is a proprietary nutraceutical complex developed by HL Science, composed of Indian gooseberry (*Phyllanthus emblica*) extract and barley sprout (*Hordeum vulgare*) extract. It is primarily designed for skin health and the management of metabolic disorders. In dermatological applications, IB Complex promotes skin rejuvenation by activating the TGF-β/Smad3 signaling pathway to enhance collagen synthesis and by inhibiting matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-1, MMP-3, and MMP-9) and the JNK/c-FOS/c-Jun pathway to prevent collagen degradation and wrinkle formation. Additionally, it has been shown to activate moisturizing factors such as serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) and sphingolipid delta(4)-desaturase (DEGS1). IB Complex also possesses anti-inflammatory properties, reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6, which supports its potential use in treating metabolic syndrome, obesity, and diabetes.
