Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Iberet-Folic 500 is a multi-ingredient hematinic supplement formulated to treat and prevent iron deficiency anemia and associated nutritional deficiencies, particularly during pregnancy and the postpartum period. It contains 525 mg of ferrous sulfate (equivalent to 105 mg of elemental iron) delivered via the Gradumet controlled-release technology, which is designed to minimize gastrointestinal irritation by releasing iron slowly in the small intestine. The formulation is supplemented with 500 mg of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) to enhance the absorption of iron, 800 mcg of folic acid to support erythropoiesis and prevent neural tube defects, and a comprehensive B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12) to support cellular metabolism. In the context of clinical research at the University of Malaya, it is utilized as a standard oral iron therapy for correcting hemoglobin deficits and replenishing iron stores in women with postpartum anemia following hemorrhage.
