Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IBI-80090 is a preclinical-stage sustained-release formulation of the platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent carboplatin, developed by Icon Bioscience (now EyePoint Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of retinoblastoma. The drug utilizes the proprietary Verisome drug delivery platform, which consists of a biodegradable, injectable liquid that forms a solid or semi-solid depot upon administration into the eye (typically via intravitreal injection). This technology is designed to provide controlled, long-term release of carboplatin directly to the tumor site, thereby maximizing therapeutic efficacy while minimizing the systemic toxicity and the need for frequent invasive procedures associated with conventional chemotherapy.
