IBI304 is a recombinant human vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor-Fc fusion protein developed by Tiantai Yinkang Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Innovent Biologics. It functions as a soluble decoy receptor, often referred to as a VEGF-Trap, which binds to and neutralizes VEGF-A, VEGF-B, and placental growth factor (PlGF). By sequestering these growth factors, IBI304 inhibits the activation of VEGF receptors on vascular endothelial cells, thereby reducing pathological angiogenesis and vascular permeability. The drug is primarily being investigated for the treatment of macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO), including both branch (BRVO) and central (CRVO) types. It is administered via intravitreal injection and is currently in early-stage clinical development in China as a biosimilar candidate to aflibercept.
