Overview

IBIO-600 is a novel, long-acting anti-myostatin antibody developed as a potential treatment for obesity and cardiometabolic disease, with a focus on promoting weight loss while preserving and promoting muscle mass. Myostatin is a negative regulator of muscle growth; by inhibiting myostatin, IBIO-600 is designed to block its inhibitory effects on muscle anabolism, therefore increasing lean body mass. The antibody has been engineered for high affinity binding to the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), leading to greater than 10-fold higher affinity than normal IgG, thus supporting a much-extended pharmacokinetic half-life. In preclinical non-human primate studies, a single dose of IBIO-600 resulted in a dose-dependent increase in lean mass—up to 5.1% at high dose—and reduction in fat mass. Allometric scaling suggests the human half-life could range from 57 to 130 days, allowing possible dosing intervals of every 3-6 months. The drug is being co-developed by iBio and AstralBio and remains in preclinical development with human trials anticipated in 2026.
