Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ibrutinib + trastuzumab is a combination therapy being investigated for HER2-positive breast cancer. This combination provides a two-pronged approach against breast cancer: trastuzumab works by blocking the ability of cancer cells to receive chemical signals that tell the cells to grow, while ibrutinib inhibits tumor growth by helping the body's immune system's T-cells and B-cells respond to the cancer. Previous studies have demonstrated that treatment with multiple HER2-directed drugs is more effective than single drug therapy, which is the rationale behind exploring this combination.
