Overview

Ibucap is a fixed-dose combination analgesic and antipyretic medication developed and marketed by Shalina Healthcare, primarily for the African market. It contains three active ingredients: ibuprofen, paracetamol (acetaminophen), and caffeine. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby decreasing prostaglandin synthesis. Paracetamol provides additional analgesic and antipyretic effects, likely through central nervous system mechanisms. Caffeine acts as an analgesic adjuvant, enhancing the efficacy of the other components while providing a mild stimulant effect. Ibucap is widely used for the symptomatic relief of mild to moderate pain, including headaches, toothaches, muscular aches, and dysmenorrhea, as well as for the reduction of fever.
