Overview

ibuprofen + aspirin-Assiut University refers to a combination of two standard non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), ibuprofen and aspirin, utilized in a clinical trial (NCT03456531) sponsored by Assiut University. The trial evaluated the efficacy of pulsed radiofrequency to the suprascapular nerve compared to this NSAID combination for the treatment of chronic pain and restricted range of motion in patients with frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis). Ibuprofen and aspirin both act by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, which are responsible for the biosynthesis of prostaglandins. While ibuprofen provides reversible inhibition, aspirin provides irreversible inhibition and is also commonly used for its antiplatelet properties. In this clinical context, the combination serves as a conventional pharmacological control against an interventional nerve stimulation technique.
