Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ibuprofen + caffeine is a fixed-dose combination of two active ingredients used primarily for the treatment of acute pain, such as postoperative pain and tension-type headaches. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for pain and inflammation. Caffeine, a methylxanthine stimulant, enhances the analgesic effect of ibuprofen by antagonizing adenosine receptors in the brain and may also aid in faster absorption of ibuprofen. Clinical studies have shown that this combination provides superior pain relief compared to either agent alone, with faster onset and greater efficacy for moderate to severe acute pain[1][2][3][4][5].
