Overview

Ibuprofen + platelet-rich plasma is a non-standard combination describing the concurrent or sequential use of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ibuprofen with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. **Ibuprofen** is a small molecule NSAID that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, leading to reduced synthesis of prostaglandins and thromboxanes, thus decreasing inflammation and impairing platelet aggregation. **Platelet-rich plasma therapy** involves the injection of concentrated autologous platelets and plasma, stimulating healing through the release of growth factors and cytokines at the target site. Combination is not an approved clinical regimen—NSAIDs like ibuprofen are generally withheld before and after PRP therapy because they inhibit the platelet function necessary for PRP's regenerative effects. There are no proprietary products, developers, or manufacturers making this a formal combination drug.
