Overview

IC19 CAR-T is an allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Beijing Immunochina Medical Science & Technology for the treatment of refractory systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Unlike traditional autologous CAR-T therapies that require patient-specific manufacturing, IC19 CAR-T utilizes T cells from healthy donors (allogeneic) that are engineered to express a CAR targeting the CD19 antigen. CD19 is a surface protein found on B cells, which are the primary drivers of autoantibody production in SLE. By targeting and depleting these B cells, IC19 CAR-T aims to reset the immune system and provide a durable therapeutic effect for patients who have failed standard systemic treatments. The allogeneic 'off-the-shelf' nature of the therapy potentially offers improved accessibility and reduced manufacturing timelines compared to autologous alternatives.
