Overview

IC9-CAR19 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy engineered to target the CD19 antigen expressed on B-cell malignancies. The product incorporates a safety switch mechanism using the inducible caspase 9 (iC9) suicide gene, which can be pharmacologically activated by rimiducid (AP1903), allowing rapid elimination of the CAR-T cells in case of severe adverse events such as cytokine release syndrome (CRS) or immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS). This design aims to improve the safety profile of CD19-directed CAR-T therapies while maintaining antitumor efficacy. IC9-CAR19 is under clinical development for relapsed/refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and various B-cell lymphomas[1][2][3][4][5].
