Overview
ICA6150349 is a peptidase-resistant, 38-amino acid peptide analog of glucagon that acts as a highly selective agonist of the glucagon receptor (GCGR). Developed by Intarcia Therapeutics, the compound was designed for continuous subcutaneous delivery, potentially in combination with GLP-1 receptor agonists such as exenatide, to treat obesity and type 2 diabetes. In preclinical rodent models of obesity and diabetes, continuous subcutaneous infusion of ICA6150349 significantly reduced body weight, fat mass, and food intake, and improved lipid profiles. Following the bankruptcy and liquidation of Intarcia Therapeutics in late 2020, development of this asset was discontinued.
