Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ICAM-1-targeted microbubbles are ultrasound contrast agents functionalized with antibodies or ligands targeting intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1). These microbubbles are designed for molecular imaging and targeted drug or gene delivery (such as ultrasound-targeted microbubble destruction, or UTMD) in inflammatory and cardiovascular conditions, including atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, and autoimmune encephalitis. By binding specifically to ICAM-1 expressed on activated endothelial cells, they allow non-invasive, real-time ultrasound visualization of vascular inflammation and localized therapeutic delivery when combined with ultrasound pulses.
