Overview

ICAR19 CAR-T cells are a form of chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy engineered to target the CD19 antigen, which is expressed on the surface of B-cell malignancies such as certain leukemias and lymphomas. These therapies involve collecting a patient's own T lymphocytes, genetically modifying them in the laboratory to express a synthetic receptor (CAR) that specifically recognizes CD19, and then reinfusing these modified T cells back into the patient. The engineered T cells can then identify and destroy cancerous B-cells expressing CD19. This approach has shown significant efficacy in relapsed or refractory B-cell hematologic cancers[1][2][3][5]. The mechanism of action is direct cytotoxicity against CD19-positive malignant B-cells via immune-mediated killing.
