This investigational combination therapy consists of icaritin, a small molecule prenylated flavonoid derived from the traditional Chinese medicine *Epimedium*, and the mFOLFOX chemotherapy regimen (oxaliplatin, leucovorin calcium, and 5-fluorouracil). Icaritin functions as an immunomodulator that targets the IL-6/JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway, specifically inhibiting STAT3 phosphorylation and modulating the tumor microenvironment. It was approved by China's NMPA in 2022 for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this specific therapeutic context, the mFOLFOX component is delivered via hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) as a postoperative adjuvant treatment. The combination is being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials to determine its efficacy and safety in reducing recurrence rates for HCC patients with high-risk factors following surgical resection.
