Ice T

ICE-T is a multimodal, opioid-sparing postoperative pain management regimen developed by researchers at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. The acronym stands for **I**ce packs, **T**oradol (ketorolac), and **T**ylenol (acetaminophen). The regimen consists of the around-the-clock application of local cryotherapy (ice packs) combined with scheduled oral acetaminophen and intravenous ketorolac. It is specifically designed to reduce inpatient narcotic consumption and improve pain control in patients undergoing surgical procedures, such as vaginal pelvic reconstructive surgery and total laparoscopic hysterectomy. Clinical trials have demonstrated that the ICE-T regimen significantly improves pain scores and reduces the need for breakthrough opioids compared to standard postoperative protocols.
